František Max Kníže (17841840) is a remarkable Czech composer of the first half of 19th century, whose charming Christmas Mass (in Latin text) was performed, in his day, much more often than the well-known Czech Christmas Mass by Ryba.
This CD with the mass, as well as other small compositions (F.M.Kníže, J.N.Vitásek, C.F.Pitsch), is compiled as a musical demonstration of a typical Czech Christmas church service including a final common song Narodil se Kristus Pán (Christ Lord has been born).
